Scented Pelargoniums In Winter Months

Looking a little sparse but just wait until spring when they can go back out side and thrive.

Bring potted scented pelargoniums inside when the nighttime temperature drops to 45°. Inspect them for insects and trim off dying leaves. Place the plants on a shelf in a south-facing window that receives at least 4 hours of light. If it is cloudy for a prolonged period, you can use grow lights. Space the plants so there's circulation between them. Certain pelargonium species will keep leaves on their stems throughout the winter, while others lose them all.

In the spring, when nighttime temperatures are over 45° and daytime temperatures are 60 to 70°, the potted plants can be taken outside for a few hours a day, increasing the time over several days, until they are acclimated to the outside weather.

If the plants grown inside over the winter are small or new cuttings this is a suitable time to replant into larger pots.
